Bing Concert Hall in Stanford, USA
Architects: Ennead Architects
Acoustics: Nagata Acoustics America Inc.
The Bing Concert Hall is a 842 seat vineyard style concert hall. It has many different programmatic elements to it, including a studio/rehearsal hall, music library, instrument storage/practice rooms, etc, but the primary function of this concert hall is to accommodate un-amplified musical performances.
There are "sails" that act not only as architectural elements, but also as acoustic performers. Between the sails, there are acoustic curtains that allow the room to change specifically for the performance that is about to happen (Eg. If there were classical music, they can tune the room to be for classical music. If there were only wind instruments, then they can tune the room for only wind instruments.).
