Quresh Tyebji: Looking Out Week 3

SEAT is what the sculpture is called. Yes, it is made out of 400 normal wooden chairs. You can see the individuality of the seats because they are stacked in such a well-organized manner, but at the same time its one proper, cool, wavy structure meant to “re-constitute the role of the seated object as one that can also play as structure, decoration, and enclosure.” This shows the sturdiness of the material (especially when you see the floating chairs at the ends). I don’t know the reasoning behind the creation of this weird use of chairs, but it definitely is unique.

Design and fabrication: E/B Office (Yong Ju Lee and Brian Brush)
