Looking Out Week 12: Robert Esposito

This is Pavilion 21 MINI Opera Space in Munich, Germany. It was designed by the firm, Coop Himmelb(l)au and is a temporary mobile sound space that can fit up to 300 people. The triangulated, spiky exterior is actually created parametrically and was made by linking the sound waves of Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze to the 3D model which created the undulating facade of the structure. The pavilion creates an exterior zone of dampened sound so when you walk into the pavilion, the sound scape is very perceivable.
