Bollens | Looking Out Week 13

This Korean Presbyterian Church by Arcari and Iovino Architects is primarily interesting for its use of fins that filter light into the sanctuary space. The openings that these fins make are framed with timber in a compelling way that contrasts the plaster walls around them. The sanctuary is also an interesting acoustic space. The panels on the ceiling as well as the insulation with the walls allow for the space to welcome concert functions as well as services for worship. The panels play a key role in directing sound waves appropriately to the space below.
