In 2011, the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami devastated Japan, destroying entire communities and their infrastructures. In an initiative to rebuild communities who had lost their public spaces in the storm, Japanese architect Toyo Ito started Home For All project. The newest development out of this project is a timber and concrete pavillion for a fishing community. The pavilion is a place of meeting and recreation for the village. The wooden hexagonal roof is warmly lit at night drawing in fishermen and their families to welcoming place.
