Woodworking has long been a wide spread craft, producing versatile objects and forms. Although wood is typically seen as a solid, inflexible material, it allows for dynamic forms to be made which is why it is still to this day, a popular material for makers. Having worked extensively with wood last three semesters, I now understand more about the possibilities and potential that wood provides in making something, for instance, in laminating and bending wood, or carving out bigger, solid masses of wood to create different forms. Wood also comes in different textures, colors, densities, allowing a variety of patterns to be made (such as the photo above).
