The Wilkinson Residence by Oshatz Architects is a wonderful wooden home that stands on a steep slope within the forests of Portland, Oregon. The home's unusual organic shape is designed to minimize disturbance to the surrounding forest while creating perfect interior acoustics from its audiophile resident.

With a top floor surrounded by treetops, The Wilkinson Residence evokes the feeling of being in a tree house. It’s curvy exterior is covered with different wood tiles and some metal parts that get rustier blending the home with the natural surroundings. Its spacious open plan interiors are filled with natural light thanks to plenty of windows that frame trees and wildlife.

With curved walls that resemble a camera lens, Oshatz Architects’ house is one of a kind. Because of its particular geometry and curved walls, most of the furniture had to be made to measure. But although its architecture seems capricious, the idea is to carefully control the acoustics of the space and leaving music to flow inside it.
