We started off this project by looking at the many types and variations of furniture and furniture design, but soon discovered that a bed could only reside in the sleep areas, a table used in the community areas or a relaxing bench used primarily in the bathing areas. We sought to create something which could appear everywhere in our design and be functional in each place. So we designed a moveable screen where a singular person could alter the space/environment or multiple spaces using this screen to let in more or less light or have more or less privacy. This was at the beginning of the project however and as we continued to design, the separator was slowly taken out of our spaces. It is currently in the bathrooms in the bath house and in the bunk areas of the sleeping quarters - in order to keep the idea of this reappearing but functional element.
The screen consists of many individual parts which together make a whole. There is the rectangular base which creates the screen and the round top which allows the rectangles to slide through a slit in the ceiling.
