Carolina Tamayo | Looking Out Week 8

Diller Scofidio + Renfro design in collaboration with an environmental design firm, Atelier Ten, a luxury Eco House for the Future. Its an indoor climate control house that allows for activities to be performed both indoor or outdoor.  The house also uses energy that is stored through the inhabitant's everyday activities. It is the perfect example of sustainability because it produces more nervy than it consumes.

Quresh Tyebji: Looking Out Week 8

This is by far one of the sexiest coffee tables I’ve ever seen. It’s part of the Mensa tables by a company in Manchester called Lazerian. The table is make with birch plywood modules (probably CNC’d) with stainless steel rods for its stable structure. Looking at how thin the wood is, I’m wondering how the plywood is bend that much without snapping, especially with a thick piece of glass on top. In any case, the complex design is done in such a way with few materials that it makes the overall table look beautiful. Would you like it? It’s only £2000.00.

Here is a collection of furniture made of reclaimed materials, wood recycled from old buildings and projects. I thought it was really cool considering everything is always new new new, it's awesome to see people using old materials in new ways to create some really awesome, unique looking furniture pieces. It's a different kind of beautiful, rustic, simplistic and natural.

Liz Dolinar: Looking Out Week 8

These incredible pieces are wooden cityscapes by artist James McNabb. He calls his designs "sketching with a bandsaw," and didn't begin with the intent of creating city buildings. As his creative process evolved, McNabb began carving mini cities and has created some truly fantastic pieces of craftsmanship. "Each piece depicts the outsider's perspective of the urban landscape," and was designed as part of his thesis project in 2012.
