Sliding House: MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects (Halifax, Nova Scotia)

The interior of the home is timber. Like, everything. Smoothed and varnished for a glossy, lasting look. The timber is to emit beauty with the combination of the natural lighting and overlooked natural views of the forest on one side and the ocean on the other.

Urban Housing Project: 24H Architects (Nieuw Leyden, Netherlands)

The façade is made of certified wood (I suppose that’s better than uncertified?) and Corten steel. Where the wood peels back to reveal the steel, is where the “canyon” is located within the home. This “canyon,” which is present in all rooms, is where the home gets the most of its sunlight.

Letterbox House: McBride Charles Ryan Architecture (Blairgowrie, Australia)

The wooden cut-out of the Southern façade is to resemble the waves of the ocean which it faces. The interior of this façade is made noticed by the bright red structure holding it up.
